55+ LBS/Ft of torque. 18,500 FPM blade speed, quieter operation, 15 MPH, reduced fuel usage, increased engine life, and...
Conventional commercial zero turn mowers have always had a problem maintaining blade tip speed under height load (lush wet grass) conditions. The 18,500 FPM (feet per minute) tip speed drops as the engine slows down to meet the rising torque at lower RPMs. When the engine slows due to load from 3,600 with 18,500 tip speed to a maximum torque of around 2,800, the tip speed becomes too low to lift the grass, shear it off, and discharge it efficiently.
Big Block engines with CPUs that control EFI, E governors, and spark advance have made it possible to maintain 18,500 FPM tip speed by governing the engine at max torque output.
